Choosing a New Fishing Rod.
Many people around the world rely on fishing as a source of income. Small scale fishing is practiced in rivers and streams. Small scale fishermen use the simple tools for fishing. Fishing can also be done for fun. The fishing rod is among the simple tools that are used for fishing. The fishing line is attached to a stick called a fishing rod. A fishing rod must be flexible. Traditional fishing rods were made from bamboo. Nowadays the materials used to manufacture the fishing pole is fiberglass or the carbon fiber.
As outlined above, there are different types of fishing rods. Therefore, one needs to be careful when choosing the one that suits them best. It is appropriate for one to consider the length of a fishing rod. The length of the fishing rods varies a lot. The length ranges from four to fourteen feet. Shorter poles cast shorter distance while the longer poles cast longer distances. The shorter rods are therefore effective when one is fishing at close combat. As for the longer rods, you do not need to be so close to the edge of whichever surface you are standing on.
Another factor to consider when choosing a new fishing rod is the material used in the manufacturing of the fishing rod. Most of these rods are either made from graphite or fiberglass. The two materials can be combined prior to production of the rod. As for the graphite rods, they are lighter and stiffer. Graphite fishing rods are prone to breaking. The fiberglass rods, on the other hand, are more flexible and resistant to breaking. The fiberglass fishing rod is quite heavy. The shortcomings of the two materials can be avoided by combining the two materials during the making of the fishing rod.
Power is another factor to look at when acquiring a fishing rod. The energy required to bend the fishing rod is what is referred to as power in this case. A fishing rod that has less power is the one that does not bend easily. One should, therefore, opt for the fishing rod with more power. The power of the fishing rod of choice can also be influenced by targeted species. A moderate power fishing rod is effective in catching certain species of fish. There are others that will require a heavier power rod. Power is always coupled with action in determining the functionality of the fishing rod.
Last but not least is the action of the fishing rod. Action is the point on the fishing rod where the bending takes place. A first action rod is the one that bends closer to the tip. The further, the action is from the tip the slower the action. The faster action rods are usually meant for handling the bigger fish while a slower action is meant for the smaller fish.
